Early Preschool: 2 & 3 year olds
The Toddler curriculum promotes verbal ability, critical thinking and cognitive, physical, social and emotional skills. Learning centers contain more complex materials, matching the increasing abilities of Older Toddlers. Teachers guide children's exploration of the arts, dramatic play, books and literacy, small manipulatives and math, science . Small and large group activities promote social interaction and allow toddlers and the older children to explore interesting, exciting themes together. Because children learn best through play, all activities include fun and laughter. Mixed ages allow all children whether they have brothers and sisters or not to experience a sibling atmosphere. Younger children learn language and cooperative skills from older children and older children learn to be patient, kind, and forgiving. They also get to play teacher, which gives them tremendous joy when the younger kids finally learn a new skill. We tell them that's because they were so patient with the toddlers.
As children's self-control , personal awareness and self help skills such as toilet training are getting stronger. They chatter with their neighbors during Circle Time, investigate the way a mirror reflects the sun, and solve shape puzzles. Teachers foster self-esteem and social interaction skills. Here, they learn letter sounds , science, math, music and more, through hands-on experiences.

By incorporating sight, sound, texture, taste and smell, our curriculum excites toddlers' senses.
If children are still learning toilet training, caregivers help complete the lesson.
Toddlers demonstrate their increased physical and social skills and awareness during teacher directed learning time and self-directed exploration time and group activities. Plenty of play, both indoors and outdoors, stimulates the senses.

Well-planned rest times give them a chance to recharge, readying them for adventure and fun. Naptime is a necessity for these busy little bodies and naps are taken on personal cots, with soft fuzzy sleeping bag animals supplied by us. They are laundered every Saturday, sooner if needed. You are welcome to bring any security items your child needs for napping.
A baby’s brain has 100 billion neurons at birth, only 17 percent of which are connected to one another. As the child grows, the neurons connect to one another; traveling through these connections are the electrical impulses that are the physical manifestation of the thought process.

During a child’s first two years, brain activity speeds up exponentially as more and more neurons become wired together; this wiring is largely determined by our children’s everyday experiences.

Dr. Marjorie Hogan, professor of pediatrics at the University of Minnesota, puts it this way: “The development of neural networks in a child’s brain is use-dependent.” In other words, what children see, pay attention to, and experience – i.e., how they use their brains on a day-to-day basis – determines how they develop mentally, and influences the structure of these neural pathways. Children show up in this world with a basic tool kit that includes imagination. If a child uses their imagination daily, this creativity will become a permanent part of the way their mind functions, on into adulthood.
