Reading
The Spoken Language: The Guide speaks correctly, with absolute clarity, isolating particular abstraction being presented; internalization of the abstraction. “Correct by teaching, not by correcting”.

The very young child traces sandpaper letters and learns the phonetic sounds. This leads to manipulating letters in the sand and forming words with the moveable alphabet. Sounding words on the mat follows, relating to the five short vowel sounds.

Forming and sounding the ‘word houses’ is a related exercise. Next, long vowel sounds and their rules soon follow.

The child is now reading on a phonetic level, and continuing to add to his list of puzzle words. Reading soon follows, since the child becomes eager to structure sentences and communicate.

Reading is teaching the concept that written words are thoughts set down on paper. Sounding out simple three or four-letter phonetic words in the first stages, then long vowel, digraphs, and sight words. Children progress at their own pace and master each step before they move on to the next. By the time most children enter Kindergarten , they are reading at a mid third grade level.
Literacy: Story Time and Circle time = listening skills , ZOO Phonics = letter sounds and names, Phonological Awareness = Sound patterns and Rhymes, Print rich environment, and many letter, reading games and leveled books.
Writing: Our writing center encourages writing for even the smallest of toddlers. We help each child progress to new levels on a consistent basis. Going from marking to letter chasing.
